Louise is based in London UK, returning frequently to Wales where she grew up. With a media and arts background, Louise makes time for creative passion projects. A keen writer and watercolour artist who also enjoys travelling, languages and exploring new cultures. This early wanderlust led to what seemed like an unachievable dream from her teens, of having a yacht and sailing the high seas. Always embracing a challenge, Louise finally realised this goal in her forties by becoming a qualified skipper, owning a yacht in Croatia, spending summer months sailing there, Greece and Turkey. The boat long gone, Louise now has her feet firmly on land, enjoying the creativity that terra firma offers. Her love for the sea however, remains.

From staying in cottages by the coast and in the countryside, Louise was drawn to seeking out the calm that these trips brought. The sea air; the walks in nature; the space, all played a huge part. But that didn’t explain the glowing feeling when inside. The sense of warmth one feels when snuggled up in an armchair by an open fire, or with the sun touching your nose through the window. It was all about the light. The cosiest of these places had nooks and crannies with auras creating warmth. The word ‘hygge’ explained to Louise by her Danish sister-in-law years before, was exactly that feeling.

Lighting affects how your feel. Like art, it evokes a feeling which can change your mood. It became important to Louise to be able to create warm focal points for her home and a search began for the perfect combination of reminiscence and style. Unable to find lampshades to capture the memories of growing up in pre-digital times; enjoying the peace of solitude or evenings with family and considering how to bring tradition and modern life together - moodloom was born.
